Join us for our Annual Meeting of the Membership!

1st Ed Credit Union will hold its Annual Meeting this year on Monday, April 21. Registration will begin at 6:30pm, and the meeting will take place from 7 -8-pm.
The meeting will be held in Chambersburg at the Coyle Free Library’s Rooftop Conservatory. The library is located at 102 N Main St, Chambersburg, PA 17201, and the conservatory takes up the top floor of the building. Join us to catch up on what’s been happening at the credit union!

Vote for 1st Ed’s Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee!

All primary members who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to vote at any 1st Ed branch location beginning Monday, April 7 at 9 AM until Saturday, April 12 at 12 PM. Only one vote per primary member is permitted, and you must be present in person to vote. This year, there are three Board of Directors’ candidates for two board positions and one Supervisory Committee candidates for one position. Their biographical data is available below, and will also be available in all 1st Ed branch locations beginning April 7.

 

 Board of Directors candidates:

 

Deborah Westover

Deborah Westover (Incumbent)

Deborah resides in Shippensburg, PA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Arts in Personnel Administration & Industrial Relations from Saint Francis University. She also completed course work at the University of Maryland.

Deborah retired in October 2015 after serving over 25 years as Business Administrator/Board Secretary of the Shippensburg Area School District. During her career she was active in the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, serving in leadership positions at the regional level.

Deborah was a member of the 1st Ed Credit Union Supervisory Committee from 2005 – 2015. She became a member of the 1st Ed Credit Union Board of Directors in 2015, when she filled an unexpired term due to a Board Member’s resignation.

With a decade of Supervisory Committee experience, 3 full terms as a member of the Board of Directors and her financial background, Deborah will continue to remain an asset to the 1st Ed Credit Union.

 

 

 

Jennifer Hawbecker

Jennifer has over 25 years of experience working with children and families in the Franklin County area. She currently works as the Early Intervention Program Specialist for the Franklin/Fulton MH/IDD/EI program. Jennifer is involved as a volunteer with many early childhood education organizations, such as President of the Board of Directors for First Start Partnerships for Children and Families, planning committee member for the United Way of Franklin County’s Learn and Play Day, and Occupational Advisory Committee member for the Early Childhood Education program at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center. Jennifer is an active Franklin County community member and is a Franklin County Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA).

Jennifer and her husband live in Chambersburg and have two daughters, a son-in-law and a granddaughter. She enjoys biking, kayaking and spending time outside in the garden.

Jennifer is excited about the possibility of working with the 1st Ed Credit Union Board.

 

 

 

Julie Koons

Julie graduated from Chambersburg Area School District in 1993 and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Hagerstown Business College in 1995. After graduating from HBC, she started working at Franklin County Teachers Credit Union, now 1st Ed Credit Union, in April 1995. At that time, the credit union had just 4 employees. Julie worked at the credit union through 2 building additions and major growth and change. She thoroughly enjoyed her career but decided to leave in July of 2010 to help her husband grow his insurance business.

Since leaving the credit union in 2010, Julie works as an insurance agent/owner at Koons Insurance and Financial Services LLC/Horace Mann in Greencastle, PA. They focus their business on helping educators with their insurance and financial needs and are involved with many school districts, especially in the Greencastle community. Julie is currently on the GAEF Impact Committee at Greencastle School District which helps decide how grant money is distributed to teachers. She has also served on various boards and committees throughout the years from PTO, school start time committee, volleyball boosters, the local pool and many others.

Julie and her husband live in Greencastle and have a daughter who is currently a freshman at Penn State Mont Alto. Julie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and going to concerts.

 

 

 

Supervisory Committee candidate:

AJ Yohn

 

AJ Yohn (incumbent)

AJ Yohn is a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a third-generation member of 1st Ed Credit Union. AJ is employed by the US Government Accountability Office as an IT Security Auditor where he takes part in a variety of IT audits, with a specific emphasis on security. His previous audit work includes avionics, cybersecurity, and the 5G Technology Assessment. He earned a master’s degree in cybersecurity from Utica College and a Bachelor of Science in labor studies from the Pennsylvania State University. AJ is also COMPTIA Security+ certified and is experienced in the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards as well as numerous NIST and ISO security and privacy standards.
